Modded squeezebox & jitter reduction devices
« on: 14 Feb 2009, 04:23 pm »
I currently use an SB3 with a monarchy 48/96 Upsampler and go into the DAC of my R/A Opus 21.   I have the CI Audio power supply.   I am considering upgrading my SB3 with the Enthusiast Digital only mod.    Is it recommended to NOT use jitter reduction devices with the modded SB3, i.e. would putting the Monarchy back into the chain defeat the value of the mods?

Try it and see  :D

I do not use any jitter correction devices on modded SBs.

I have tried an older Monarchy DIP with the SB and it sounded much worse.

I also tried a Big Ben reclocker and it too degraded the sound.

Use good, true 75 ohm connections at all points and 75 ohm cable for the digital signal path.

I don't think you will need any upsamplers or anti jitter boxes.

Every system is different. You may find some improvements.

If not, sell the Monarchy and put the money into music.
