Monk being Monk. You just can't miss his style- no one else plays like this. This is a mid '60s Columbia 2 eye pressing that I just picked up for $5.
A very good album in deed! I love Monk. There's a really interesting story in Miles Davis' autobiography about how Davis was kicking Coltrane's ass (litereally) in an alley for being a drug attic; Monk intervened and took Coltrane in. During that intervening period of living and playing with Monk, Coltrane said his concepts of harmonics totally changed. I just bought one that had gotten past me previously:
