Warm TWO.2
« on: 30 Aug 2011, 04:32 pm »
hi, new to Virtue Audio.  Just got myself a TWO.2  After playing it for an hour, the whole unit feels warm to the touch, even the volume knob feels warm (almost to hot).  Is this common?

Yes it is normal.
Our amps run warm. Its part of the design and how we got the sound we did.
nothing to worry about unless the amp starts to glow red

Yeah my Two runs very very warm. I crack a window. Even though I don't own one, in terms of heat, I liken it to having a tube amp  :green:.

The case is used as a heat sink for the amp.

Yes, noted that..  just feels a little strange that the volume knob also acting as a heatsink, thats why...

the volume knob will get warm because the volume pot is attached to the chassis which acts as the heatsink

Thanks everyone for covering for me while I was away.  Yes, it's an exoskeleton design.  The THREE has some fins which spoil the lines a bit but get rid of the heat.  I'm working on something to cover the mounting holes if you want to leave off the heatsink.
