Soundcoat for VMPS Larger Sub

I am looking at these subs.

What does the soundcoat upgrade do for these boxes. The only thing I can imagine is to muffle noise from the woofer motors.

Adds mass to the cabinet to reduce vibration.

I called BC about this since I had a few questions about the New Larger subs. He said that it is for frequencies above 200Hz in the cabinet. Since that is a pretty high frequency for a subwoofer to generate, I guess that it is the cabinets resonant/harmonic frequencies that are muffled.
