Does anyone have any music that they like that is more on the emotional side of the spectrum? Something that is affecting in a way that really hits you in the heart?

Since emotions are persnal, there is no one kind of music that can 'do' it for all people. For one person Maria Callas, ANY Maria Calls can bring THAT person to climax, and leave another person wishing they could just leave, as soon as possible. So IMO there is not universal music to give one goosebumps. For Ms Who over hear, it may be Pavarotti but for Joe Zero over there, it is Black Sabbath at 115dB.

For me, give me Schubert's Death and the Maiden.  :thumb:

:thumb: Another Mike Oldfield recommendation.  This one with the fantastic vocal of Tarja Turunen.  Viceral bass too on this recording.

Mike Oldfield & Tarja Turunen: 'Never too far; Islanders'

Nina Simone for me.
Start with "The Essential Nina Simone", and if you like then search out more of hers, especially live tracks.

Also Lucinda Williams.

A lot of people think the Barber Adagio is the ne plus ultra of emotional music, but the orchestrated version that most people like can't hold a candle to the original version from the string quartet. The bigger arrangement may be full of stately and emotional gravitas, but the quartet is much more raw. Like having your heart pulled out of your chest.

Allan Taylor album: Color to the Moon. Cut: A Road too Long
A tear jerker for anyone that has dealt with a loved one that has Alzheimer’s. Excellent sounding recording by the way, one of the best imho.

Butterfly Kisses--Bob Carlisle    If you have a daughter, more so.
Dance With My Father--Luther Vandross
Talking Old Soldier--Elton John
More Than Wonderful--Sandi Patti
