Stuff like the cable elevators and the de-magnetizer are proof that people have more money than common sense.  I can't say they don't work, because I haven't tried them.  But seriously?  Wouldn't any non-conductive or isolating or whatever the term is material work just the same?

It doesn't end there - CD cutters, absurdly expensive CD cleaning machines and fluids, the Shakti room optomizer, high end equipment racks, and on and on.

I've heard differences in cables.  Not debating that at all.  But some of the prices and claims are way over the top.

For cables I use mostly Kimber: Hero, KCAG, 8TC.
I had some B&W 805s and now use Magnepan 3.6's with my Bryston gear.
PS: raising cables off the floor may have some benefit.
The original idea credit should go the Enid Lumley of Absolute Sound fame.
The cost of raising them can range from ZERO: I have used paper towel tubes wrapped in packing tape cut into 1" sections, works well, cost nearly zero.
to really insane prices for exotic wierd stuff that STILL just holds the cable a bit off the floor.
I suppose if one has $15,000. cables, spending a few hundred for risers is OK.

I've seen styrofoam cups used as cable elevators!

Since you can't recycle styrofoam, that's actually a darn good idea. Reduce, reuse, recycle.  :thumb:

Of course, they reduce vibration also. No point in spending thousands on a stand and neglect cabling isolation.

Since you mentioned this.... are you an accomplished audiophile? i.e. did you fill your turntable with plasticine and your amp with sand?
