I finally got the BDP-pi to work with my non-Bryston DAC via USB. But now the LCD display doesn't work. Should I expect this?

Correct, the data bus for the display interferes with the USB bus so the display turns itself off.

Thank you. It turned out that I had to return to a coax connection. Using USB, the gear sounded great with CD resolution (44/16). When I tried hi-res files (192/24), I got a lot of crackling. It was unlistenable. The DAC is Emotiva, not Bryston.
