What are the options for grouping a bunch of CDs iTunes? A friend asked me what could be done without creating another library. I took a quick look around in iTunes but did not see how one would create a collection of CDs (or Albums).

Create a Playlist, then add or drag albums to the playlist.

The default view for the playlist will be "Playlist", but with the playlist selected you can go to the menu View > View As > Albums to see the songs grouped as albums.  The view setting chosen will be persistent for each playlist.
