Mr. Tanner,

I wanted to thank you for supporting your local Symphony Orchestra.

As a Symphonic musician, most Symphony organizations continue to struggle with financial support and concert attendees.   For the past 30 years,  the age of the Symphonic audience continues to get older and it's becoming more difficult to attract new audience members.

It sounds like Peterborough has a Music Director and Conductor that is listening to the local community and more importantly, performing what they want to hear.

Everywhere I go, if the Topic is home audio, I'm a huge advocate and promoter of Bryston Audio components.

It's terrific to see Bryston maintain their commitment to excellence and your support of your local Symphony.

Keep up the great work!

Just as a heads-up, they misspelled your name. At the bottom of the page, it says “Sponsored by Bryson. Conductor...”

Spelling errors aside  :finger:,  This is very good news -- that classical musik is enthusiastically embraced and supported in a seemingly back-water community for such music. Hope it really takes off.

Money is the driver for a successful Symphony organization.  You need to fund raise, a lot.

More money allows you to hire better musicians.

The orchestra here is a "Regional" orchestra.  We bring in people from everywhere and that's not inexpensive to do.  The local classical musician pool was not large enough to provide the quality musicians needed for the more challenging repertoire that we play.  If a player gets through the audition rounds and can play, they're offered a position. Almost all accept and we've had players come from as far away as New York city and San Francisco audition and play here regularly.

^ Not sure why established professional musicians, from other orchs like the NY Phil and SF Symph (great orchs btw), need to audition to play in Ontario??
