BCD-1 vs BCD-3
« on: 6 May 2021, 09:03 pm »
I have a BCD-1.  It will play up to track 37 on a CD I have that has 99 tracks.  I believe that James Tanner said that this was a function of the CD drive used in the BCD-1.  Is the CD drive used in the BCD-3 capable of playing all 99 tracks?  It's time to evaluate upgrade possibilities and I'd like something that will handle the 99 track specification that's part of Redbook.

Good question. The BCD-3 uses the drive from Stream Unlimited. It seems a better device than the Phillips was but not sure about the max tracks.... In any case I had the BCD-1 and although it was a very fine player my BCD-3 surpasses it in over all refinement....you won't be disappointed if you get one.
