B100 and Magnepans?
« on: 5 Apr 2010, 08:28 pm »
I am curious. I have Martin Logan Aeon I now, had them four years, but I keep looking at the Magnepan netsite, and now the 1,7 model is out....cant help it, I feel torn....
Can the B100 do as good a job on Magnepan 1,7 as its doing on the Aeon I ? I have a small room and dont play loud...

last year I heard a B100 powering a pair of 1.6's at a dealer I found it did just fine in a smaller room (I think it was about 12 X 14) and it wasn't straining at all with a decent volume level. I personally think these speakers require a tad more power, a 3B amp or even a used 4B-SST would be great ( as I have found the more power you throw at them the better the low level detail retrieval is).

I think in a small room with average listening levels you should be fine.

Only one way to find out
