Bryston 11B phono
« on: 10 Nov 2023, 03:12 pm »
Hello,
Finally, I made the decision to buy my first turntable. Unfortunately, my Bryston BP26 preamplifier has no phono stage. The most obvious option is to buy an external phono pre-amp like the REGA Fono MM MK5. But I wonder if I have a second alternative. More precisely, I'm wondering if it's possible to buy a Bryston 11B and use it as an external phono pre-amp. In that case, I could connect my turntable to the phono input of the Bryston 11B and then connect the Rec Out (or tape out) output of the Bryston 11B to an input of my Bryston BP26 preamp
I therefore have two questions:
1/ Is the Bryston 11B option feasible?
2/ Would the Bryston 11B option give a better result than the REGA Fono MM MK5 for example?

Thank you very much for your help.

maybe you want to consider getting the Bp-2 MM/MC external phono ?

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. The BP-2 was my number 1 choice, but unfortunately its price was beyond what I could afford.
I finally bought a vintage Luxman turntable (40 years old) and a Rega phono preamp. I am very happy with the results.
