Raid 5 storage for cheap?

Another cheap option is to use software raid in Windows. You can modify some of the Windows XP files to enable software raid and the overhead is pretty minimal. Do a google search for Windows XP Raid Hack and it's the first link. I've done this on several machines with zero problems so far. This box has 4 320g SATA drives. The OS is mirrored on a 40G partition, there is a second 40G partition for data (non music) storage and a 767G raid 5 partition for music. Performance is a non issue, at least with a 3ghz processor. With this config, this will become the owners main PC and his Squeezebox server.

YMMV. :D
