Any reason why one B100-SST amp would run hotter--& sound better--than another?

I just bought a 2nd used Bryston B100-SST integrated, to use in my "bedroom" system. But first, I hooked it up to my main system, where I normally use the first B100-SST, just to check everything out. After having in "on" for several hours, the first thing I noticed is that it doesn't get as hot as the other one. I haven't measured it, but just touching the top of the amps, one gets noticeably warmer than the other. And I *think*--the recently purchased one doesn't sound as good.

I've now had it on for about 24 hours. I could be just going thru new component anxiety, looking for any problems. But the heat difference sure seems real. Oh, & the date on the "cooler" one is 09-13, the hotter running one is 09-09.

TIA, Woody

Hi,

The amplifiers are all BIAS separately by hand to get the noise and distortion as low as possible on each and every unit.  So a higher bias will cause the amplifier to produce more heat.

As to the sound difference I can not explain that one.
