Title: "Balanced" input to CHIME
Post by: flocchini on 3 Mar 2009, 10:24 pm
I am looking at a CD transport that provides AES/EBU output. Can I input this to the Chime using the +/- and ground inputs? Currently I use a BNC with the - tied to ground and a 75 ohm resistor between + and ground as described in the HagDac manual.

Thanks

Bob

Actually, you need to switch to a 110 ohm resistor for that cable.

Thanks Jim:

I was actually hoping to "un-ground" the negative input on the HAGDac and use the pos, neg, and ground signals of the balanced line independently. Even if it were possible, to me and my limited knowledge, it appears it would screw up the USB input.

Use a tranny.  The digikey 470-1007 should do the isolation (ungrounding) and 110 ohms to 75 ohms conversion for you.  Or what that the 1006?  Whatever, the one with 1:1.22 turns ratio.
