Current San Diego resident, Ex Charger and NFL fan here.  So typical of the Spanos led chokers, they did this to us everytime they had a chance for greatness.  We lived and died with the Chargers.  Spanos will, and is starting to find out, LA will not live with the losers!  So happy the Raiders went for the field goal!

LOL, they went back to their roots and it did no good !

I was so wanting to see a Chargers / Bills playoff game. To take me back to my youth of Hadl /Alworth , Kemp / Dubenion and Cookie busting' up the middle ('64 and '65)

I was tired of seeing "player sets season record" headlines.  :duh:  Sure, with an extra game to set it. The NFL should have stayed with a 16 game schedule. So many players get injured.

Watt missed several games so actually tied the sack record in less games than Strahan did it in.  And the NFL cut two preseason games and added one regular season game.  Plus there's no contact in practice anymore, which was a major source of injury previously.  So on several levels the extra game doesn't matter that much.

Playoff rankings looks like my Iggles aren’t getting much respect!

Nope, Eagles and Steelers are this year's one and done teams.  They often surprise us, these sure fire losers.

I think you're right about the Eagles, but the Steelers beat the AFC #1 seed Tennessee. If Najee Harris is healthy, I think they have a chance.

The Bills have the talent to beat any team in the league.
But they also suck just enough to loose to any team as well…

Don’t know what team will show up tomorrow night but I’ll be rooting for them!

Go Bills!

Like many here I'm an older guy.  I go back to the old AFL, before the merger, before the first Superbowl.  And I have no horse in the Bengals Raiders game.  The absolutely worst officiated game I've ever seen.  I've said for a long time, the stupid idea of breaking up officiating crews for the playoffs is ridiculous and leads to the debacle we witnessed today.

Some years back I was working for the day with a defense attorney in Phoenix. When we were at lunch, he explained that he was also an NFL referee. I said "Wow, a lawyer? Really?" He said that a lot of NFL refs are lawyers. When I asked why, he said "Because we're really good at remembering rules."

Anyway, he explained that the NFL reviews every play of every game all season long. Referees get points for every play they called correctly, and deductions for every bad call and more deductions for every missed call. At the end of the season, the refs with the highest totals get to ref the playoffs. The highest scores amongst those guys get to ref the Super Bowl. The SB refs get big checks and big rings, just like the players.

Anyway, that's why they break up the crews.

Thanks Jerry, cool story.  Yes, I was aware how they do it, it's still stupid.  They should score the best officiating teams.  They don't pick an all star team to play the Superbowl do they?

That's a great point, scoring the different officiating crews as a whole, rather than the individual refs. I would be all for that rule change.  :thumb:
