A good quality USB Turntable?
« on: 8 Oct 2012, 09:32 am »
Hello all,

I came across some good quality vinyl in which I would love to turn into MP3 format, for those that are more of a professional than me when it comes to vinyl.  What is a good quality usb turntable?

Thanks~

Don't buy a USB TT.

And don't burn to MP3.

Buy a good used TT off ebay and use Audacity to rip to a lossless format, such as flac or wav.

That's my .02.

Or here's a thought.... maybe someone could try to answer the original poster's question instead of sniping at the guy.  Chgolatin has been around here for a while and knows he's not asking a SOTA kind of question, knows the limitation of the formats, etc.
So, does anyone have a recommendation?

What the OP wants to do with his vinyl is his prerogative.

If you have a helpful suggestion or well reasoned opinion otherwise - state it (with as much kindness as you can muster).  Otherwise, stay outta' this thread: this is a forum to spread the joy of music, nee via vinyl in this case...not anger, frustration or any of the like.

Thx for your time and attention....cheers,

If you own a TT by all means look into a AD converter. Music Direct.

Amazon seems to have a dozen or so to choose from at around $75-$200.  If it's going to MP3 format, I'd just pick one at a price point that you like and not worry about it.  :thumb:

If you want to turn the records into MP3's, any of the turntables with USB will work. I even have one I could sell you for not much money. They do a decent job.

I decided I wanted something better that would provide better sound quality. Depending on your budget, I would get a decent turntable such as a Project Debut Carbon and an external phono preamp with USB which is available from multiple vendors.

Project makes a table in the sub $500 catagory with usb. Their tables have always offered good value for money so I'm sure their usb table will be good as well.
