Changed the batteries in the BR2 (originals were still in it) because I was having occasional issues changing tracks with the CD3 and the motion sensor stopped working.  Anyway now CD3 will not power up with the remote and when the CD3 is manually powered  up none  of the remote functions for the CD work, either.  However, I can still remotely turn the volume on the preamp (BP-26) up or down.
Any ideas, before I call for service?

Try reentering the code for the bcd3 on your remote.

I should have realized it, too.  But some electronic devices retail settings when batteries are changed, but ......
