High quality RCA cables for Technics 1200
« on: 17 Jul 2018, 02:56 pm »
Right now I have 4' of BJC LC1 soldered to the circuit board, I'm looking  to replace those with a much higher quality cable with relatively low capacitance.

I would like to keep my budget under $300, I believe I still want the RCA ends and not a separate RCA jack, this eliminating another connection point.

All input appreciated.

There are no higher quality cables  than the BJC LC-1 cables! (and only a few equals)
But the very low cable capacitance of the LC-1's may not be ideal for a phono cartridge cable.

Well....not to start a cable war... :)...how would a low capacitance cable negatively affect the Technics 1200?

I guess I am a little confused. Which circuit board do you have wires connected to? I have a 1200 also. I have the tonearm wires terminating in RCA plugs that I plug into my phono preamp. I recently upgraded the wiring to cardas copper wiring.

Many phono cartridges are rather sensitive to the total capacitance that they see. That would be the sum of the cable and pre-amp input stage. Often even with typical cables, capacitance is added to make the cartridge happy.

You are in the right way, I would post at Sonic Craft Circle, Jeff will have a wire suggestion for you:

Here is a paper on phono cartridge capacitance loading. You can skip the math parts.
