Hi, Steve

Really appreciated your effort on computer audiophile.
I've just brought a white MacBook with SSD as a source to my DAC, Berkeley Audio Design Alpha DAC, using toslink cable.
Based on web search, does the Pace car sound better than the Off-ramp?
Can you add USB input to the Pace car? Will there be any difference in sound quality compared with toslink input (both can output 24/96 from Mac)?
How long will you take to finish the driver for USB to output 24/192?

Many thanks.

Yes, it has lower jitter.

Yes, using the Tascam US-144 with slave-clock mod.  This supports 24/96.

No, jitter on the Pace-Car inputs is not important.

At the rate things are going, it will likely be end of 2009.  It involves licensing new software, (a big expense), as well as me designing both a new USB module and a new dual-clock module to replace the Superclock.

It's important for me to outsource the assembly of the boards for my existing products to reduce lead-times, as well as adding the battery power supplies for Overdrive, Pace-Car and Off-Ramp.  This will probably take all summer and fall.
