We have quite a few Amazon Echos (aka Alexas) in the house.  I did not know there was any way to play my own (ripped) music, which is on a NAS (network attached server), and ripped to FLAC, until yesterday:

It's called My Media, and there is a fee, which is currently around $5/year.

My NAS uses an operating system called Unraid, and I installed My Media on there.  However, they say even a Raspberry Pi can handle My Media.

I can now say "Alexa, ask My Media to play Stevie Ray Vaughn", and it works!!!!  There is a list of commands on their website, and it will play audiobooks, too.

So, if you have Alexas/Echos and want to play your own music, this is one option.
