Amp, pre-amp and DAC for your 1801s

If you are searching for electronics to run your 1801s, these work extremely well:

* AKSA 55 watt with Nirvana upgrade
* BentAudio preamp like NOH or TX102
* ART DI/O Mensa modified DAC (I tried the AcK Dack! and it's not as good a match with the Bent and replacing the battery will get expensive in a hurry).

Add a DVD player and/or Slimdevices Squeezebox (music server) and you have a true high-end system for music and 2 channel HT.

I'm selling this package

I run my 1801f's with:

Roksan rok-dp1 CD Transport
Audio Synthesis Dax DAC
John Linsley Hood 80W mosfet amp modified to use better psu and feedback caps
Rega planar 3 turntable with john linsley hood phono amp
u-byte 2 speaker cable (2 cross-connected CT125) cables
Silver signal tape interconnect.

I am very happy with the setup, until I decide I must change the amp!

Linsey Hood - wow - finally I meet someone who is using this famous amplifier. I never listen to it. Can you help me with some details about it? Tell world about this amplifier - is not known here in North America.

Linsey hood 80W mosfet (not the class A one), and the DAC

Hi,
The amp comes from a kit from HART electronics here in the UK. Mine has great component quality on the AMP boards, sounds sweet and truthful, but does not have a dual mono power supply which would definately improve it, but at a cost!

I like the sound, fast, smooth and detailed. I imagine an AKSA is better though. I cannot easily compare these two.

I was told that the 80W linsey hood compares to amps costing £1000 in the UK. I think that it is better than that.

Regards,
John
