Hello!
I recently had a reviewer return a pair of on loan MU Moving Coil step-up transformers - we'd been talking about getting them back here when I see him at a show, etc but it just did not seem to happen so he fired them back via courier. These are copper wound units with a selector switch for choosing either 1:10 (20db) or 1:20 (26db) step-up ratios. These units regularly sell used for over what I sold them for new - the cheapest I have seen in a quick look online was $800 - approx what they were going for when I made them 5 years or so ago. The high used value is no doubt due to the fact they are now made of 100% unobtanium.
Given the time of year I thought lets auction them off for charity. I've been doing what I can to help out a very small charity in Nepal - one that really does get any donations entirely to the people in need over there - not to tv ads and admin costs...... The details are here:
http://www.lostearthadventures.co.uk/about-us/our-charity/
Our hope is to get a water pump and storage system installed this coming year. The full sell price would be donated to the charity - not just the profit. I'll also take care of shipping to the winning bidder.
Lets start the bidding at the $800 price. Please e-mail me with any bids you have rather than posting here. I will keep track of them and send updates to any bidders along the way. Highest bid before new years day gets'em.

Very nice John! I don't need but want them. No $$ at the moment but I'm really hoping someone will pony up so you can donate the funds. Do these have the S&B cores?
-
Hello!
Yes S&B cores - the TX103 transformers. This was the same in all the MU step-ups sold.
I'll keep a post here of the highest bid - just so folks know where it is at. Already have one in for $1000 which is an awfully nice start!

Hello!
No 'next step' for anyone bidding - just shoot me an e-mail with the bid and I will update here as I get a chance to show the top bid - which as of tonight is a very generous $1418! Already higher than I might have guessed we'd end up.

Hello!
Was not so much on my end but more all the great bids that have arrived. Very heartwarming to know folks care so much. Also I must mention that I've even had a fellow make a very nice donation directly himself. Quite unexpected and so very generous of him. We really are lucky to have such a wonderful community here in this hobby!
All the best to everyone.

Hello!
Quick update.
Thanks to all who showed an interest in the auction! The winning bid combined with a very generous donation from another bidder raised over $2000 for the Share The Load Foundation. Over in Nepal this can do wonders - the fellow taking care of things at the foundation commented:
"I am so grateful, with all this money we should be well on our way to a clean water supply in Beluwa"
Also - if it not too late - All the best for 2014 to everyone!
Thansk!
