Well the cat's out of the bag,eh?

1st stage on new speakers. TWO new models!
left to right: Apollo 11 - Ulysses - Zeus
The Apollo 11 will be a single 10" like the Apollo and the same mid and high drivers as the Poseidon. The Zeus is my statement system. two 10" drivers with 2x mid and 2x tweeters like the Poseidon in a two part cabinet so we can get the 6.7cf volume without needing a forklift!
A little gutsy trying three new models in one year but they have been brewing for a long time ; )

If all goes well then the Zeus will debut at RMAF and the Apollo-11 at CAF

On the FB post you noted the two Zeus cabinets would be connected.  And before folks ask about this I can only assume this is to allow home delivery versus pallets and forklift.   But then how many of us want to say we had a forklift deliver our speakers :thumb:

Will the top cabinet have a forward tilt?

I look forward to seeing them in a couple weeks.

I am trying to make a statement speaker that has the performance etc of a six figure system but keep the price reasonable. Part of that is shipping and the logistics of placing these in a listening / living room.  A big advantage of using solid hardwood is the weight. We can build a cabinet of solid hardwood that would weigh three to five times as much if made from MDF etc., that way our typical system (Ulysses etc ) weighs in at about 110 lbs each instead of 300 -500 lbs each. The Zeus will be about 230 lbs each channel, by splitting that in two cabinets it becomes simple to ship and install as opposed to trying to deal with an 800 lbs behemoth.

The top cabinet will be vertical, the tweeters are pretty much at ear level for a seated listener (42").
We hooked up two sets of Apollo friday and the bass was staggering. Clear, no boom or bloat and incredibly powerful and deep. We turned on and off the subs which made NO difference. When these two 10" go into one cabinet the response will be even better! So we are looking at a real 20-20K HZ flat system with a HUGE soundstage and very lifelike presentation.

Zeus in the finish room!

They will be at RMAF in the Iris room with two Modwright A-30 tube power amps per channel!

Apollo, Zeus and Apollo 11..... breaking in the Zeus for RMAF (Apollo will also be there!) and doing the finish on the Apollo 11 for CAF

Wish my family pictures looked that good.

In one of Dans posts for equipment Modwright is bringing he  mentions two amps for a bi-wire setup on Zuess.  Wil this be a show only or a valuable to us mere mortals?
And as I know the Apollo's are 40 inch cabinet only height,  what does Zuss top out at?
And it there a thunderbolt option????  And how would it work?

You are too kind sir!
For this pair I am bi-amping the inputs (one for the two x 10" and one for the mids and highs), I am only comfortable doing this when ALL amps are identical which is the case here, we will use four A-3o mono blocks at 30W each. Probably not needed as the system is better than 98db but why not?
btw The Apollo are 46" (49" with the spikes etc.), The Zeus total out at 74", yep 6ft-2". and there is a silver inlay in the front of the base cabinets to represent the lightning... :thumb:
They are sounding great so far, very very balanced and a huge stage.
thanks,
lou
