Finally went to see a movie that I liked. James Bond Spectre.
The movie was interesting with a great story line and plenty of action..
I haven’t been a James Bond fan since Sean Connery. I think Daniel Graig’s
James Bond is spot on. Well worth the early show $4.50 price I paid.

Took my son and his friend (14 year olds) this weekend. They liked it, I thought it was pretty limited. Lots of chases and action, clothes, guns, cars, locations etc., this is the form of Bond movies and part of their charm. However, for me, the last couple of Bond films have lost the humor and tongue-in-cheek tone of earlier Bonds, of which Connery was definitely the best embodiment. I know many people like the newer, harder style but like Skyfall, I've sort of forgotten it already.

Agreed. The older ones interspersed action with slower scenes, which helped with suspense and gave the action some impact. The all out action assault is just too much. Like music, without the soft parts the loud parts have no impact. Plus it was really long. I was looking at my watch several times.
Don't get me wrong, not a bad flick, just not the best one. Of the modern ones, I thought Casino Royale really got it right.

I love that they changed the pace with D.Craig a bit. I've been watching Bond since I was a kid and have seen every film. The only ones I truly did not care for were the Brosnan films. I thought Casino Royale was darn near perfect...my favorite Bond film of all-time. I'm sure they'll eventually go back to a more "suave" type of portrayal, but for the time being I'm sure the studio is riding the $$$ that the Craig style is bringing in.

I'm actually bothered by Bond being not suave. Daniel Craig is a misandrist in real life, so he prefers not to be a ladies man like previous Bonds. For me that's a key element. That's all that some early movies had, because the action was so corny.
Daniel Craig fits the spook look really well, so I don't think he's bad casting for spy movies, I just don't think "Bond".

I just saw Casino Royale and I really liked it - however, some of the "combat" action was too over-the-top for me - Venice and airport chase. It would have been much better if they had scaled back a bit. But I do like Craig - though I haven't seen his other Bond movies yet.

I personally like the new Bond movies much better than the old. I like the fact that the Bond actually feels something in these. The original reboot with Craig I thought was by far the best Bond movie. I also liked Skyfall, but I had a hard time with Quantum of Solace. Not because of Bond, though; the story was too convoluted for me.
It's like the new Star Trek reboots -- For me, they rock compared to the old. Let's hope the same is done for Star Wars.

Craig is just too darn frigid for me. IMO, Sean Connery was the best followed by Roger Moore. I miss their dry humor.

IMO Skyfall was the best Bond film of all time. Spectre falls a bit short of that but it was still fantastic IMO. To me the only failing was that Christof Waltz' character was built up too much vs what he actually managed to do. Waltz is a fantastic actor but the BBEG he played was a bit too much of the one dimensional mustache twirling cliche to really be effective. But Lea Seydoux is always awesome. I liked Spectre a lot. :thumb:
