Title: BDP-2 screen info does not match tune playing
Post by: Pundamilia on 9 Feb 2019, 03:37 pm
I find that occasionally the display on my BDP-2 does not reflect the song that is actually playing at that time. It seems to fall behind and get "stuck" on the previous tune. This occurs with a playlist of about 550 items. I don't know if using a scratch disk makes any difference - I do. Would upgrading to an SP-3 with a faster processor and more memory alleviate this issue? Are there any sonic differences between the SP-2 and SP-3 or are the other electronics the same?

Thanks.

...the same problem with BDP3! actual song sometimes doesn‘t match the song shown on the display.
what‘s wrong ??

Are you connected through the router to the internet?

*I* am connected through a switch and HomePlug to a router to the Internet. I don't understand what that has to do with the issue. Doesn't the display on the front of the BDP-2 pick up the song info from the drive, which is attached locally via USB?

I guess upgrading to a BDP-3 won't help if alexone is having the same problem with a BDP-3.

Hi

Chris will be better to answer but I believe the BDP goes out to look for album info when connected to the internet but does not get any return info when no internet is present so there is a delay in the display sync.

...i am also connected to the internet. the BDP1 never had this issue in the beginning. it started when my library became bigger. don't know if it was at 500gb, 2tb or at any other size...however, i always thought the BDP3 should not have this problem due to its faster processor, ram, etc. but sometimes the BDP3 fails even with a songlist that is much, much smaller

Try controling the BDP via it's front panel controls while the display is till showing the song of a previous title and see if it works. Try pressing the "next" button. If it doesn't skip to the next track, it means the BDP is doing something so the display and onboard interface cannot immediately refresh. be sure to try this and let us know.

Cheers!
