DAC & passive driving 5k?
« on: 26 Mar 2004, 03:56 am »
Opinions of the CI DAC & passive preamp driving an amp with a 5k input impedance & 1.4V sensitivity (Crown)?  The input impedance seems way to low to me.  Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem...the low input impedance will insure that you have no hi freqeuncy roll off and the VDA-1 has no problem driving low impedance loads. You will have to turn the volume up higher than normal but this isn't always a bad thing as most potentiometers have their best channel to channel tracking past the 10 0'clock position. If you like, you can plug your values into the attenuation curve calculator at http://www.dact.com/html/ac_calculator.html
