Squeeze box 3
« on: 30 May 2018, 09:23 pm »

    Hi Guys:

Until about a week or so ago my Squeeze box 3 was working fine. I shut my PC down when I go to bed.
Wake up in the morning. Watch the morning news for hour or so. Turn off the TV. Turn on my PC.
Check mail and other B.S. Squeeze box 3 working fine shows time of day.
Now it doesn't work or come on. I've reset it to factory settings. Entered all the correct numbers and
what it tells me to do. I've done this several times.
BUT!!! After going through all these procedures it still tells me "No player found"
Where do I find the player?? I know I have one. Sent an email to Logitech but no reply so far.

                                                        Thanks Guys

                                                        Charlie

AS your SB3 is about 10 years old ( just a guess) and Logitech quit supporting the product line outside of a rare update that I came across about a month ago, it could just be that time to move on.

But just to check a few things.   And it's been a while since I have done this.

To find the player.  Open the Web control and select settings at the bottom of the page.  Select the tab and see if you player is listed under name.  There will also be a pull down button with the player name that you can also select SQUEEZE LITE ( Possibly)  IF Lite is selected switch back to player Name.

You can also take the SB3 to the computer and connect via Ethernet?

Also have you tried just using the SB3 to get a radio station, this can be done via it's own WIFI no computer needed.

I seem to recall there is a built in diagnostic.

You should also see the SB on you network of it is connected and just a setup glitch.

Hope some of this helps.

   Aldcoll:

Thanks for the info. you sent me. Nothing I do helps. I think sometime ago there was a little button or something like that on the
upper right hand screen that said "Choose player" It's still there but now it says "No player found"
On settings it also says "No player found" I have a case number with Logitech but haven't heard from them.
This problem is really no big deal. I hardly use the Squeezebox anymore. But I would like to find the answer
to this problem. I am not a savvy guy on computers. I go by KISS!! ( Keep it simple stupid)

                                                                     Thank you

                                                                       Cheers

Give me a call.  I am on the west coast and unencumbered with a job.

There might be a Wi-Fi test  on the 3 I forget.

Also hooked w hard wire  Would be a test.

I am interested if they give you any help.

Alan,
If you are wireless, try rebooting your router. It may have lost its mind.

When you say reboot the router do you mean disconnect the power?
I have another media streamer in my system and when I turn it on
it connects to the router. Ain't life and PC's FUN!!!
      NO!!! fun for me.
                                         Cheers
                                         Charlie

  P.S. I have a wireless Squeezebox.

Try to disconnect your router power, leave it off for a min or so, and then reconnect and see if it helps.

As someone else suggested, you might try to connect the SB3 with an ethernet cable, and see if it works via ethernet.
From what I remember, you would need to change the SB3 setup to use ethernet instead of wifi.

   Randy:

I'd have to have an Ethernet cable 40 feet long.

Charles, I was referring to the menu on the PC for Media Server.

Give me a call, I bet we could figure out what's going on.  Or I might unload a spare SB3in storage.

  Hi Guys:

I was wondering that if I deleted all the Squeezebox software on my PC and started from scratch installing new software
would that get my Squeezebox up and running?. I think I'll give it a try. Darn thing doesn't work now. I won't do it until
I hear back from you guys.

                                                       Cheers

It could be dead or some software glitch.

I am serious about the phone help.  Could be complicated or simple.

And hooking it up with a Ethernet cable would be a test.  Since you can input the Wi-Fi info I think sb3 might be okay.  Simply repeating and doing a reinstall may not clear up or it might be the whole enchilada.

  Alan:

Nothing to worry or think about now. I deleted all the Squeeze box software.
Logged on to Logitech to download new software. Guess what!!!
They have no software to download for the Squeezebox.
I think because it is not an item they don't sell or make anymore
They don't offer support  for it.
Still wondering why they gave me a case number.
So regretfully my Squeezebox will have to go to the recycle bin.

                                                 Cheers

Can't you download what you need here?

https://www.mysqueezebox.com/download

I am still using LMS as my server s/w.  Have been since my first SB3.  Now using a hacked Pogoplug running Linux and fooled into thinking it is a Touch.  iPeng on the ios devices, and loving it.

    Hi Guys:

           Squeezebox is up and running.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Logitech didn't have the software that I thought I needed.
So I did a Google search. Lo and behold  they had the install
software I needed. So I installed it and now everything works okay
I'll need to make a playlist and favorites list. They are not there anymore

                                  Cheers

     Hi Guys:

Squeezebox up and running. Had a problem that  when I shut off my PC Squeezebox went back to "No player found"
Not having that problem now. Must have pushed the right button somewhere.

Squeezebox sounds and works very good.

       I don't know how much it cost new.Maybe $150.00.

Honestly I can't tell any difference in sound between it and my $1100.00 Cambridge music server.
But I'm using a coax cable out from the Squeezebox to the Cambridge. The Cambridge has a very fine pair of Wolfson? Dac's  in it
That might be the reason. I'm sure if I hooked up the Squeeze box to my Preamp with audio cables it would not sound so good as it does now.

                                                                               Cheers

Hi Guys:

Squeezebox works great!!! I am a very happy camper now!!!
One thing that puzzles me. The Squeezebox plays fine on my audio system.
But on my PC there is no volume. Should there be volume control on my PC. ?????
"It is a puzzlement" No big deal. I spend most of my time listening to tunes
on my audio system. I do get on my PC to watch DVD's .Lot's of volume then.

                                                Cheers
