Scrounged Fidelity, a Two-channel Audio System by Charivari

Room Size
16'x16' (16'x25' depending)
System Overview
The 175CM true ribbons from the Flatlines are run from 350 Hz up to ~44kHz. The Tympani bass panels cover from 350 Hz to ~35 Hz. The sub crosses in at 40 Hz and operates down to ~ 16 Hz. The Onkyo pre is used only in direct mode and for the convenience of the remote control. For critical listening, the variable output from the Denon is connected to the amplifiers directly.
Music Preferences
Pretty much anything odd be it Balkans music, Gypsy inspired, Jewish and Eastern European ethnic, and variations on female vocals and electronica. Painfully boring audiophile music is kept far, far away. Besides, there is a lot of good music that is even better recorded than the audiophile standards if one just looks for it.
Room Description
The room is oddly shaped with the major part being 16'x16'. However, an 8' wide opening behind the listening position goes a further 9' into an open kitchen area.
Acoustic Treatment
Strategically placed heavy blankets and pillows.
Listening Impressions
Very good, but the deep bass isn't the greatest.
Other Comments
Was using a heavily modified Sonic Impact T-amp on the ribbons until it melted down the other weekend. The Fisher is a dirty sounding, rolled off wonder even after refurbishment, but it's all I have until I can build a new, clean sounding digital amp.
