Hello VOLKS,

Everest is on the left and the K2 S9900 is in the middle. I have not heard these "beasties" as of yet and my audio guys tell me that they both sound much better than the Arrays - they have an in-depth knowledge of JBL speakers and I trust their opinions.

I do not know if they are still producing the Arrays. If I remember correctly - you cannot get them in the dark finish any longer (I could be wrong). Speculating - I think another issue is the huge difference in price from the mid teens for the 1400s to the 40 plus mark for the K2s (if I am off on these prices - someone please correct, Thanks).

James - have you heard anything with respect to this? Thanks.

Be well…

No, the Arrays aren't being discontinued according the JBL rep in my region. However, they are thinking about phasing out the 1000.

In the US the prices are as such:

Array 1400: $11500

K2: $30000

Everest: $60000

They may have gone up. Not sure.

Only $30K for a pair of S9900's  :o You could be "out the door" for less than 30K

I think/guess it must be $40K for the S9900  (where I live, they cost 2/3 of the DD66000).

I have heard that the 1000’s are not as popular as the 800’s or 1400’s - so this would not surprise me if they discontinued the 1000's.

You're welcome. The price I quoted you was for the 9800s. So, the 9900s might be more. I wouldn't doubt it.

I was looking at some pictures of Phineus before the turret re-design and I noticed a photo of my "pre" Bryston/Esoteric system. Talk about "a blast from the past." I briefly had my Marantz SR-19 in system for a short period of time. You can also make out the KEF Q1 on the bookshelf.

Follow the speaker wire up to the third shelf, you can make out the edge of the Q1 behind the robot with the missile pod and the laser arm  :D
