I bought an SE-9 a few months back and have been using it as a headphone amp (AKG 1000) - with which it works very well.
I also tried it out through my main speakers - Magneplanar 2.6R's - with which it drove to unexpected medium/medium loud levels. Has a wonderful ethereal sound on acoustic/small scale sounds and a rather unexpected full bass - However, compared to my 200 watt power amp - it does rather loose out in outright drive but you kind of expected that ....
Well, I want more !
I think I'd like to go for an SE-18. I'd like to use it as a headphone amp but also as a valve phono stage if that's possible. Could I take a signal from a turntable into the SE-18 and then take a signal out into my main pre-amp (Audio Research LS-8).
Mind you - I'd love to hear the SE-18 through the Maggies as well.
Oh, one other thing - Michael - would it be possible to make a silver fronted SE-18 ? - would fit in with my other components surroundings.
