Quality of 4.0 at low volume?
« on: 2 Jun 2003, 10:30 pm »
I've never heard a nOrh speaker, but I'm very interested in the 4.0 based on the reviews I've read. In particular I've noticed a lot of positive comments about its off-axis performance, which is important to me as I do a lot of listening outside of the "sweet spot." Living in an apartment, however, I also do a lot of listening at low volume levels, and I'd like some honest opinions on how the 4.0s perform under that circumstance. The other speaker I've been looking into is the Triange Titus 202, which has been widely praised for it's performance at low volume but seems to be more particular about positioning.

Would a speaker's efficency have anything to do with low volume performace? The Titus is a bit more efficient than the nOrh, rated 90 vs. the nOrh's (I think) 87.

Any opinions would be much appreciated. Amplification is a 50wpc AMC 3050a integrated.
