Did McIntosh really do this?

As usual, I have no idea which circle to put my thread in  :?

The McIntosh MCLK12 mantle clock is a celebration of time while being a tribute to classic McIntosh design

For $1800, they should at least spell "mantel" correctly..

...and for the Mac fan, it's highly coveted.

I'd love to have one but no way I'd drop $1800 for a new one. Not sure I'd go $800(ish) for a used one either.

It's extremely cool though if you are into big blue meters and green lettering :thumb:

Like putting a Rolls Royce grill on the front of your Beetle.   :o

IMO this is the epitome of McIntosh statements, for better or worse.

BTW I owned a MA6100 (70 wpc integrated from the 70's) and while well built, it sounded much worse than the Pioneer 626 receiver that it replaced.

I've never owned any Mc gear, but I think this is cool as hell. And had I the dough to spend that much without flinching I certainly would get one. Probably the coolest clock I've ever seen. So if any of my rich uncles are watching ...

That clock would look awesome in the same room as this:

Frank Sinatra's mint MC2000.

Yes, but one of them is wrong!  The mantel shelf (most often associated with a fireplace) spelling is most easily remembered with "you put the telephone on the mantel"

Not impressed by the telephone quote, but upon further investigation you are right and I am wrong.   :slap:
Mea Culpa.

For less than $1800, you can get a nice one that plays music.

Speaking of which, does anyone know who makes solid wood surrounds for old components?

I put a new thread about it here

but I'm not really sure where on AC it should go.
