My long serving PS Audio transport, the original Perfectwave, is showing its age (mainly in the form of the tray not opening etc) and while I have managed to get it going every time, even the PS Audio guys are telling me it's reaching the end of its life and parts might prove a problem soon. Since the only transport PS Audio now sells is priced too steeply for me ($7k) I figured I'd be wise to explore other options. After the usual suspects (Audiolab, Cambridge, Jay's etc) I came across the CDT-10 and it seems like it's well built, has the I2S option, which is how I run my PSA Directstream DAC, and looks like its built to last. Can find precious few real reviews of it out there though and my search landed me here. So a couple of quick questions to those in the know:
1) Is this a good match with the Directstream Mk1 (not the latest version but I'm sticking with it as I love the sound). Anyone heard the pairing? In particular, anyone compare this to the Jay's Audio transport that seems a popular alternative among PS Audio owners?
2) Where does one purchase? I found the direct sale from the NuPrime site which I think involves shipping from overseas for $40, which seems very reasonable, but I find the Cable Co also listing them, which surprised me and makes me think there may be more retailers out there (ideally one where I could hear or trial it but I realize that's unlikely in this day and age). Any recommendations for a US-based seller you like?
Thanks for any information or opinions - it's been a long time since I was on this site and it's good to see the community still going!
