Wow Mav, thanks for the rec.! I'm enjoying the album very much, and from what I'm reading the live album is also a treat.

This is a band for the "gotta see live if/when the world returns to semi-normal" list, that's for sure.

Hopes when Covid is over and I can travel to Euro again I can see them.

The young man gost some talent , thanks for sharing

Been looking for this LP for years. Can only stream it for now. Doug Quattlebaum was "discovered" playing blues songs through the public address system of his Mister Softee ice cream van. He only released one album while he was alive. Apparently joined the ministry and gave up the blues. Great voice and guitar playing, if you like the Piedmont style.

That album is a favorite of mine too and it is recorded by the legendary Jazz engineer Rudy van Gelder!

A lil'/little blues from last night ...

Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials - ... What You See Is What You Get
Lil' Ed is JB Hutto's nephew, who taught him to play, which you can hear in the way he plays that slide guitar.
That is what Lil' Ed told me when last we spoke a couple of years ago, when he stole my seat at the bar after his show!

... and also from Li'l Ed - Jump Start

Little Charlie and the Nightcats - Night Vision

Little Axe - The Wolf That House Built

Robert Ward - Fear No Evil
(though perhaps more R&B rather than pure blues)

Rusty Zinn = Sittin' & Waitin'

Samantha Fish - Kill Or Be Kind
(Very fine, mature song written release. Although at this point in her career by now, her voice, very limited in range and nothing special ... she should do a little less vocal wailing and instead blister the guitar a bit more in those spots.)

Sue Foley - Walk In The Sun

Lowell Fulson - The Tramp Years
(Great party music!)

Robert Lighthouse - Drive-Thru Love

Robert Lucas - Completely Blue

Terry Evans - Blues For Thought
Ry Cooder produced and he plays some really awesome guitar on this release.

Lucky Peterson - Triple Play
Named as such for Lucky playing guitar, piano, and organ. Not all simultaneously, of course

After a few jazz discs I went, as typical, to some blues next ...

Susan Tedeschi - Just Won't Burn
Terrific guitar (even a ratiug guitar) solos by Atlanta's own Sean Costello.

Maurice John Vaughn - Generic Blues
You younger folks missed out on the "Generic" brand craze back in the 80's. Even consumed me some "Generic" beer back then (yuk!).

J.B. Lenoir - Vietnam Blues (The Complete Redordings)

Bessie Smith - Empress of the Blues

Sue Foley - Young Girl Blues

Samantha Fish - Wild Heart

Popa Chubby - Live Big Bad And Beautiful
The quality and spaciousness of this recording is stellar! His vocals are somewhat garbled, but it sounds like that may be due to him eating the mic.
I've seen the big man a few times and he is the real deal for blues/bluesy-rock.
