I'd never heard of them but thanks to your post I'm a fan now. I just listened to Straight Shot, Love letters, How it Ends and Till The End  of Time; They are great.

I don't blame your wife for being excited they're coming to town. They show only three dates on their website. We're only two hours from Pittsburgh. What venue are they playing?

I'll be checking out more of their music tonight. I have a feeling I'll be getting a couple new CDs this week. :thumb:

Thank you very much for the heads-up.

Cheers,

Scott

He is freaking awesome !!! Former lead band member of The War on Drugs , another sick band !!!
Hartwood is awesome , bring food and wine , your dogs , frisbees etc..
The Kurt Vile show should be sick !!! Check out his new album or his effort with Courtney Barnett

Hey Shakeydeal,
I never even said I liked this band. I was inquiring about the band. My wife enjoys this band.
They seem to be doing something right for their 23 year career. NPR and WKXP seem to dig this band.
I do like his voice, and I have read that that they are a great live band. I'll go hear them to accompany my wife. I may dig em.

"Their performance at the 2006 Bonnaroo music festival was considered a breakout event.[citation needed] In between tours, the band was picked by first time film directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris to score Little Miss Sunshine,[1] a 2006 film that would go on to garner four Academy Award nominations. DeVotchKa, along with composer Mychael Danna, composed and performed the majority of the music for the film's soundtrack and were nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack. The main song, "The Winner Is", was also used in a commercial by the French-based environment and energy company Suez and the Dutch pension fund PGGM."

In 2006, Arcade Fire singer Win Butler suggested to DeVotchKa that they arrange the Siouxsie and the Banshees song "The Last Beat of My Heart". The musicians found the idea interesting and they recorded that song for the now critically acclaimed Curse Your Little Heart EP.[2] The band did a world tour in support of their previous album, A Mad & Faithful Telling (released March, 2008). The album reached No. 9 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and No. 29 on the Top Independent Albums charts.

I listened to one of their songs and thought it was pretty good. I'm sure in concert it would be better, too.
