Got my old WA6 back along with some "new" Bydernamic Amiron headphones.
This sounds really good, big Winged C tube and two little Raytheons perked it right up.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

One set per household is enough.
Considerably more bass than my old Stax Sigmas and everything sounds just about right to me.
The Winged C worked out quite a bit better than the vintage Tung Sol that was included from when I sold this unit years ago.

I had a WA-6 years ago and was my daily driver until I updated to the Woo WA5-LE.  One of the best upgrades to this amp was using an adapter to go from the 6DE7 tubes to 7n7 tubes (6DE7 to 6SN7 also work). 7n7 tubes differ from 6SN7 tubes in that have an loktal connector.  Almost all 7n7s were made by Sylvania and are very similar to the chrome dome 6SN7, except they are quite a bit cheaper on the NOS market.

I sent the serial number into the helpful folks at Woo Audio and here is the response:

7N7 tubes are not compatible with WA6. Below is a list of compatible tubes for 1st gen WA6 (6DE7 version).

6DE7
6EW7
6EM7
6DR7
6DN7
6FD7
6SN7

I was all set to use 6SN7s as I have a bunch of them but was advised by them not to with Byerdnamics (they said Grado would be fine).
What that means for me is I'll stay put with what I've got.

Woo used to sell the 7n7 with adapter as a direct replacement for the 6DE7.  Perhaps they forgot :duh:. Here a link to the old page that sold it.
