I just got my hands on some NOS Mazda Belvu 12AX7A Silverplates, whose physical beauty inspired me to start this thread.  Go ahead and post photos of tubes you find beautiful!

According to a local amp builder, a pair of these can deliver 700 watts at 3,000 volts.

866 Mecury diodes.

Don't break them when they are hot!  Poisonous if inhaled.

The 304TL takes top accolades, but unfortunately this isn't a very good picture of it.  Can't find a very good one.

For something much less exotic, I think the new production Tungsol 6550 is a charming prince.

,

I sort of feel like Homer here... "Oh shiny!!!"

It's a Telefunken Re-084, a driver tube. Rather rare I think. RE = "Roehre Empfaenger" = receiver tube..
Only DC heated...

And yeah, that is a sunflower up on the tube (in the reflection..)there sporting a green butterfly.  :D

Physically Beautiful Tubes....but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...

Spotted for a few years at RMAF....the Amber Waves Audio 304TL mono blocks ($42,000/pair)...

Big...heavy....and "funky looking"....

They use 304TL output tubes and 3B28 xenon rectifier tubes to produce 200 watts each -- and a lot of heat. :duh:

I really enjoy the 6C33B glow. Too bad I don't have a good photo right now.
