Chesky CD's - Best Ones to Own?

Anyone have any experience rating these?  I would like to purchase some Chesky CD's/SACD's but have no idea which ones may be good.  The criteria should include not only recording quality, but musical performance and overall enjoyment.  Are there any essential first purchases here?  I like all kinds of music, but lean (heavily) toward jazz, blues, world, and female vocals.  Thanks in advance.

My personal favorites are:

Swing Live - Bucky Pizzareli, et al
Hot Club of 52nd St. - Bucky Pizzareli, et al
Blue Bossa - Ana Caram
Unauthorized - Dave's True Story
Sex Without Bodies - Dave's True Story

I have about 10 - 12 others, but these are the ones I listen to the most.

I believe these are all available as either SACD Hybrid or redbook, with the exception of Sex Without Bodies, which is only available as redbook.

You can't go wrong with anything by Paquito D'Rivera.  I have Tropicana Nights and Portrait of Cuba.  They are both great.

Another one I like is the self titled Conga Kings album.

And remember, currently _everything_ is 25% at Chesky.  Wonder if that includes the speakers?

it's the only chesky cd i have, but "the coryell's" is fantastic.  i have been a larry coryell fan since the early 70's, & this album, w/his sons, is killer, especially if yure into acoustic guitar.

I'll second Doug's recommendation.  Own it, and didn't even realize it was from Chesky.  Great music and excellent sound.

For acoustical guitar, Badi Assad's 'Solo' is wonderful as is her collaboration with Larry Coryell and John Abercrombie on 'Three Guitars" :D

Hi bb.

"Because of You" by Kenny Rankin is an essential. Beautiful acoustic jazz music and a captivating intimate recording that puts Kenny and the other performers in the room. Kenny's vocals are a real treat and if you're not familiar with his lyrical style, your missing out. "Because of You" was a show stopper at Hiderfest last month.

ENJOY!

I am probably gonna catch hell for this,  but Chesky's "The Ultimate Demostation Disk (Vol 1)"

I still use it as reference for checking out new gear.

And, it is a great way to discover other artists on the label, such as Sara K, Rebecca Pidgeon, Lenny Andrade, Ana Caram (WOW!), Monty Alexander,  and Johnny Frigo for example.

Good fun overall, methinks.
