« on: 31 Jul 2020, 08:34 pm »
hi, im a new comer from S.CAL.

     My new Lampizator ATL TRP is on its way. Any good suggestion for the tube rolling? Goldlion KT 77? KT 66?

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Take a look at the various tubes feedback - https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/lampizator-golden-atlantic-trp.27809/page-48#post-663685

I would work my way through the thread backwards.  The current favorite based on few TRP owners seems to be Tesla EL51 but they do require adapters.  That thread has information on where to purchase adapters.

GL KT66 and 274b rectifier were the way to go in my system. Buttery midband, good authority, clean highs.

@unitygain   GT66 sounds like a reasonable choice.

I have tried the GEC KT 66,77, and 88, along with the EH 6CA7 and Tung Sol 5881. All current production. The KT66 is excellent, very linear and balanced. The KT77 is super punchy with an exciting sound, but got fatiguing for me (I am sensitive to brightness). The KT88 is unlistenable. The EH's have a super juicy midrange but are slightly rolled off. The Tung Sol are similar to the KT66s but with a denser juicier mid range and a touch more dynamics, more extended highs than the EH.

I have settled on the TS's but I could gladly live with any of them except for the KT88.
