It was very brief at the 2007 CES, but I can tell you that they were effortless, dynamic, and very cohesive. It sounded very much like live music, and less like hi-fi.

Today I picked up my 7B's hooked everything up and I am exremely happy with my purchase  aa

I can't wait until I have the 1400's in my room to go along with the amps ... right now I'm using a pair of Def Tech and it's nice to hear them open up but it's nothing like what the compression drivers have to offer.

James it would be very interesting to hear your view point if you decide to bring this in.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Have you ordered the 1400's?

james

Hi James. not just yet.  Originally I was leaning towards the 4B although, after some additional research and demo's I extended the budget for the 7B's.  If all goes well I would like to have some thing on order by December.

Hi ssmith
Vovox cables seem transparent and neutral, allowing the  source material to sound as close to what was recorded as the
rest of the system and room allows.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to get a pair of the JBL 1400's Arrays to audition but they are special order in Canada. The one concern I have after looking at the 'specs' is that the 14 inch woofer in the speaker goes all the way up to 750Hz.  This means a lot of the voice range is being handled by the large woofer and the harmonics by the compression horn.

Any input from those that have heard the speaker regarding voice quality?

Hi James
Voices sound extremely natural, without any apparent strain or distortion. The speakers are very satisfying  to listen to.

Hi Dave,

Just wondering how do you know so much about these types of speakers.Did you own some Tannoy or jbl before? Stereophile rates the Jbl 880's well in there magazine and Bryston is always top notch in there too.

Sure, just reading about them and listening to them at CES.

Correct. I own the L890s driven by the 4BSST. It's a nice combo overall.

I have my Bryston b-60 sitting idle right now. Once in a while I hook it up to my 1400s and even this Bryston drives them well at lower volumes,I was thinking of getting a pr of Jbl ls40 bookshelfs for my B-60,thought it might make a good combination, has anyone heard these new bookshelfs yet?

Thanks.

Hi Buzzer,

Are you running your speakers in Bi-Wire mode or running them factory with the straps, from your 4bsst. If you are running Bi-wired are you hearing a noticable difference in sound quality.

Thanks

Hi ssmith
Yes, I am running in Bi-Wire mode and yes it does make a difference. There seems to be more "space" in the music.
