Hello,
    After numerous restarts, I’m finally ready to look into getting a stereo receiver with airdrop abilities. I’m on a budget, but figure I can keep things simple in my quest: speakers, CD player, stereo receiver with airdrop for streaming. It doesn’t have to be the newest thing…just something compatible to my iPhone 11. Any insights would be appreciated.

Hi Steven. Take a look at the Marantz line, I think the N1200???  Slimline, hdmi, Airplay, tone  controls. Haven’t heard it yet but sure looks cool and Marantz has made some nice lower priced gear lately. Good luck on the hunt.

Yamaha R-N303, around $300. If you want to spend less you may be able to find a used AVR with analog inputs. Airplay has seemingly been a feature on a number of brands of AVRs including Yamaha for many years.

If you can find one, I think you may still be able to use an Apple Airport Express as an AirPlay receiver.
