Bryston 2B-SST Bridged in Mono
« on: 25 Mar 2007, 12:51 pm »
I was looking at the 2B-SST specs in Bryston pages and got to know that these amps can be bridged. The specs state 350W into 8 ohms when bridged. Can anybody let me know the figure when going into 4 ohms bridged? This was not stated anywhere in the spec sheet.

Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages technically when using 2 units of 2B-SST as mono amps compared to say a 4B-SST? Are mono amps more susceptible to electronic problems or damage compared to stereo amps due to the complexity of the circuits since they have the extra switch option that enables switching from stereo to mono? The only advantage I can think of is close placement of each mono amp to the speakers thus avoiding long speaker cable runs.

Also, I have noted on the sensitivity switch with the option of 1V and 2V. What is the purpose of this function?

Any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

You would be better off with a 4B-SST rather than two 2B-SST bridged in mono.
