BDA-1 fuse questio
« on: 26 Dec 2012, 05:30 am »
Hi

I tried replacing the stock fuse a replacement Synergistic Research fuse of exactly the same rating (small fast-blow 250mA) and it blew. Synergistic suggests using a fuse of a higher rating but I am nervous (their next highest is 500mA). I am still willing to try a HiFi Tuning fuse but should I stick with the 250mA or should I try their 315mA? if it blows again, I am out the 60 bucks.

Thanks

Sub,
What do you expect to gain by replacing the stock fuse?

People who I trust swear by changes in the fuse for all equipment.

What improvements do they achieve?

You guys MUST try telecom fuses:

and watch your frequency response drop to just 300-3000 Hz.

There are multiple reviews on the web for HiFi Tuning, Synergistic Research fuses. Those folks have done a better job of describing the benefits than I could.

Check them out. Now will they do the same in my system? Don't know but given the large amounts of money I have spent on other "improvments" why not try this?

Thanks

Interesting that the BDA-2 uses a slow-blo fuse (T500 mA)

Placing a fast fuse in front of a power supply is so inadequate that it's not even funny. Google for "inrush current" to find out why.
