DAC-9 and HPA-9
« on: 17 Jul 2017, 09:29 am »
Good day to you all,

May be this topic is already on this site.
But I have a short question.
On the NuPrime website I couldn't find the answer.

I already own a STA-9. as pre-amp I would like to buy the DAC-9.
How can I integrate a HPA-9 in the future?
Can I still use the remote of the DAC for volume control?
Can I use the phono-section of the HPA (as a source) and still use the DAC as main pre-amp?

There's no manual of the HPA-9 on the site and the manual of the DAC does not refer to the HPA.

Can any one help me out?

Thanks and regards

Henk

Normally you connect the DAC-9 RCA outputs to HPA-9, and then HPA-9 RCA outputs to STA-9.
You can listen from your speakers or headphones by fixing HPA-9 volume and use DAC-9 to adjust.

The issue here is when using the turntable as source and still want to use the DAC-9 remote volume control.
This connection should work but I need to check with engineering if it will create ground loop noise:
- Connect DAC-9 XLR outputs to STA-9
- connect DAC-9 RCA outputs to HPA-9
----> connect HPA-9 RCA outputs to DAC-9 RCA inputs
So when source is phono input, you would fix HPA-9 volume (there is memory retention for each input) and set DAC-9 input select to analog.
