Hi from Panama
« on: 23 May 2023, 05:22 pm »
Old AudioCircle member here, but it has been too long out of audio hobbie (mostly due to work and a terrible tinnitus that hit me too strong emotionally) that I don't remember my old nick any more.

I've been relocating quite a lot these last years but hopefully soon I'll settle for long in a new place with bigger space. I still keep interested in open baffles, so I'll be around mostly asking for help for a new project (easy one) that I'm beggining to think of.

Cheers!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Thank you, but as I said, I don't 100% remember my old nick and -if I do- I've still lost access to the email linked to it, so...

Welcome!

Wifey and I have dabbled with the idea of wintering in Panama.  What part of the country are you in?  We come from a rural area in lower Michigan.

Welcome back to the circle! BTW, there is a promising treatment for tinnitus I red about that you might want to check out: https://newatlas.com/medical/neuromod-devices-lenire-tongue-ear-tinnitus/   Having had tremendous success with my DIY OB speakers using Lii Audio F15 drivers, you may want to go that route if you have some tools and the desire in your new digs.

Thanks!

Yes, tinnitus has had me in what I think it was the most terrible time in my life for a few years; what finally has helped me was to stop trying to fight it and just try to used to live with instead. As far as I know (and science also knows little about it), it's not going to go away and the best route -as of today- is working to emotionally stop paying attention to it; at leat it's what finally has helped me bring back my life (or a big part of it).

I'll take a read about that therapy anyway, tks ;)

I was almost decided to go Lii Audio route (maybe F15 alone, maybe W15 + F8/10) after reading a lot of good things about them (and they being available to buy in Europe, where I'll be relocating soon)... until I read about the fact that there are two different Lii Audios (the original Lii Audio one that one can only buy inside China, and the Lii Song that can be bought internationally but that are different that the originals), so I'm still trying to find reviews of one vs other back to back)

Welcome back to the circle! Hi,

I don't plan to import part for the project to Panama; I'll be relocating back to Europe later this year and so I plan to buy from there.

As importing electronics here, this being Panama that is a not so easy to answer topic hahaha; if you go "the correct route", that will cost you within 5-15% import taxes depending on the item category + 7% ITBMS
