Today i started the cases.

First i redesigned the front logo. I like it the best by far. Most of my designs come to me in my dreams, must have had good dreams last night  :D The yellow highlighted area will be machined off after anodizing.

I used these five tools to do the first operation of the cases.

Holders to secure the tools.

My CAM program. I used the geometry to too lpath.

Tool path lines, where the tool cut.

Started off with the raw block.

The block is .02" over 3.000", so i took .01" off this side and will do the same on the bottom.

I cut the perimeter down 1 1/4" but will cut the rest on the next operations.

Put the steps in.

Roughed out the surface features.

Put the 3/8" spot faces in.

Machined the 1/8" and 1/16" chamfers on.

Put .03" chamfers on the 3/8" spot faces.

Surfaced the sides.

All done :)

Got two done, i will finish the rest tomorrow morning. ON MY DAY OFF!!

A video i made of the surfacing :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7m30Yix_WQ

The raw blocks weigh 29.5lbs and after this operation they went down to 27.5lbs.

Took 49 minutes and 12 seconds to cut one part.

These will be the Death Star of diy Ncore builds. Lord Vader your power amplifiers  (in british) have arrived.

Please do them all the way with nice connectors and back panel.

I will be using standard connects that i already purchased, I've never heard a difference with cables, connectors, magic risers or golden ground jelly beans.

I know but it won't look as cool. You can't have a Fiero with a lambo shell, it looks funny.

Haha i have programed the case for the connectors i have already and can't return 7!!! sets of the connectors.

It'll be fine :)

I added venting slots to the sides of the case to help the PSU.

I would have just drilled through some of those smaller holes in the top.

I thought about it but opted for vent slots on the side.

I have turned away numerous people saying i would not make anymore cases but there is a good chance i can (work schedule) and will make more. The cost will be higher than the $500 mark per case as i have added more to the design and platting may be up there for a set of cases.

PM me and we can talk :)

Changed the slot design so they're at an angle, which looks cooler and makes the slots longer because of the angle they're at.

Got all 7 cases down on op 1 :)

I agree, I would skip the vents, as well as the large name on the front (though you have good reason to be proud, I would think something a little more subtle would be more appropriate...but what do I know...)

I wil be returning the standard connectors i purchased because i ordered nicer connectors from Parts Conn. Got a Cardas XLR, WBT posts and a Furutech IEC.

What's nice is i don't have to adjust my model for these, they are all the same size as the standard connectors.

Jerry! You are not going to believe this. I designed an amplifier.

.... you designed an amplifier.. that's great.

Oh yeah!

... let me guess, you brought it with you. You're going to show me the amplifier. You know we have to be at Spazzo's by 6 or we won't get a table. Then what.

not so fast Jerry! Look look! I added grills.

Yes you did. I see that. Why would you do that?

Well? What do you think?

Naww it's not for me. Can we go now?

.......

haha, hope you can appreciate the joke  :green:. Every time I see your logo I think of Kramer busting in the door.
