One box solution question!
« on: 24 Jul 2007, 04:38 am »
Hello Jim,

As per my post recently about the Bugle PSU, Bugle, and Piccolo in a one chassis scheme, I like to clarify my wiring connections for power if you do not mind.

On the Bugle:

+ B1 terminal to + 15 V to the Bugle PSU (BPSU)
- B1 terminal to GND (+ 15V side) of the BPSU

+B2 terminal to GND (-15V side) of the BPSU
-B2 terminal to -15V of the BPSU

GND - to terminal ground of the phono preamp (connected to the chassis , GND of the 120Vac connected to chassis also)

On the Piccolo:
+ terminal to +15V on the BPSU
- terminal to GND on the +15v side of the BPSU

On the PSU, both GND terminals (+ 15 and -15 sides) connected to chassis ground.

Dos that looks right to you?

TIA and best regards,

Abe

Sounds ok.  The problem you have to watch out for is ground loops.  Once you start connecting signal inputs and outputs you'll see what I mean.  All of a sudden grounds are everywhere.  Probably best to use coax on signals and let the braid also be the ground returns for power supplies.  That is, hook up the signals first, then power supplies.  Not the other way around.  Then you can avoid adding loops.
