I haven't been around in a while...home renovations take an eternity...going on 3 months.

That said,  looks to be over in the next two weeks and then I would love to host a session.

Hey Keith,

Glad to hear the new "digs" happened.  Did the Dynaudio happen too?

Lotsa things available to listen to.

BluePort CDs, Skylan Magic Mushrooms and Component Platform, Two grades of AQ power cords, BPT 3.5 Signature, and more.

Myself, I'd just like to hear the Dyns.

I should have a new pair of MLS BCSE RM40s in 30 days or so.

I'm pretty new here, but would you be interested in another set of ears? :P  I was wondering where a good place would be to ask if there was any interest in checking out Rick Craig's new monitors as a group to save on shipping, as well, and it seems like this could be something to consider.  I can't use them in my current situation because they are too tall, but I'd sure like to hear them.

ooheadsoo,

when are you supposed to be getting these? and where are you planning to have the session?

I haven't actually arranged for anything yet  :o  Perhaps it would be best to do this after we get a place and location set up

i can probably arrange to host at my place assuming everyone interested in hearing Rick Craig's new creation is willing to make the drive...gotta warn everyone now tho, i'm not sure we'll have all our furniture in place by then but there's plenty of seating on the floor!

Everybody throw a folding chair in the trunk and we'll be fine.

As our house still has lots of space for future furniture purchases, I can completely understand. I've been working like crazy on the yard lately, so I haven't minded much. The bright side is that there is plenty of room for people to bring equipment over. So, if people are open to driving to Encinitas and bringing lots of gear, I might be able to swing hosting a get-together as well.

WTF are the "Skylan Magic Mushrooms"? :o

He got the Wilson Sophias instead of the Dyns. You can see his current setup over at AVS, if you're so inclined.

You need to bring the BPT 3.5 Sig to MD's place, as I would be curious to see how it compares to shokunin's Hydra-6.

Yep, went with the Sophias based on the aeshetics as those C4s are just too unwieldy looking in a room.  Sophias are a superb speaker btw, and i am giving up some bass, but that is fine.

Still have the BAT, and went to a Marantz SA14v2 cdp...

Did have them put in a dedicated 20 amp line :)

Need a new amp...Bryston 4BSST has been fine for the past 2 months, but I am itching to get mroe.  Heard the Halcro and BAT tube amp vs. the Bryston back east and lets say the Bryston gives up a lot to the alternatives, albeit much more expensive ones.

That said, Rives should be my next upgrade---anyone know of a Rives specialist locally?

They are a new ceramic isolation device made by SKYLAN

http://www.skylanstands.com/index.htm

Noel sent me a few to try out and give him feed back on.  I call them Magic Mushrooms since they look like little mushrooms.

He also sent me a couple component platforms to evaluate and get feed back on.

The Mushrooms are not on the site.  The platforms/amps stands are.

No problem,  I want to now hear the Sophias, since I have heard the Puppies and have been told the Sophias are a big "step up".

OK, just for that, I'll have to bring the Son of Ampzilla and see how they compare    I should have one of those in a week or so.

I think George (Zybar) would be interested in that comparison.

In fact, the best comparison would be to also run them head to head on the RM40s when I get them in about 30 days.

Hey John,

Let me know when your ampzillas and the 40's come in.  I'd be interested in seeing how they match with the SOA.  I can bring my pair of rowland 201's and Pass X-250 and we can have amp shootout.

John, If we wait for your new RM-40's, are you going to cart them to Temecula,or do you want to change the venue to your place. I would really be interested in the amp shootout.

Hi, I directly compared the Pass X250 to the 201's and preferred the 201's by quite a bit.  The Pass has a graininess to the mirdrange that the 201's don't have.  I also thought the bass was tighter, deeper, and more detailed with the 201's.  The Pass was nice, but it wasn't going to make me leave my tubes.  The 201's allowed me to leave my tubes AND improve my system.  All while lowering my electricity bill.

What do you think of the 201's vs. X250?

George
