Audio projects to keep me busy.
« on: 8 Mar 2013, 01:27 pm »

Hi Danny and all Audio Circle members.
Not too long ago,
I was told by an Audio Circle member that I was redundant.
Well, here I go again, normal; I am a 65 years old and old person that’s what they do when they get old.
Last year when I went back to Canada
(I thought it was for good) but I was wrong
(Not the first time and certainly not the last time)
I brought with me to Canada my GR Research V1
(Drivers, x-overs and amplifiers and (My nice) enclosures),
my V2 (Drivers, xover and amplifiers) but no enclosures
and my V2 sub. with enclosures.
I also brought back the drivers and x-overs for my N3.
It did not work out in Canada the way I wanted, therefore
I (Temporally) came back to Vietnam and brought back with me all my drivers, etc, but without enclosures to save on sea cargo fees.
My wife kept the four V2 enclosures.
Now, all this brings me to the following.
I did experimenting with my V1 drivers and put them in a U type frame and the result were very good.
I remove the V1 drivers and put them aside for later usage.
I put in the U type enclosure the sub drivers of the V2 w/amplifier and use a pair of Audio Nirvana 8” extended range drivers that I bought a few years back from, Common Sense Audio for 78 USD/pair.
The result (For me) is very good; they sound good despite their ugly look.
The vocals are natural, normal with extended range drivers without x-over.
The bass with the two 12” from the V2 are Eminence Acoustinator and the bass is deep, not as good as the V1 servo sub, but good enough for my in-laws that will use it for Karaoke singing.
Constructive criticism are welcome.
I admit that I have no wood working talent. :duh:
Everything you see on the pictures are made by Guy 13.
I am a loyal GR Research customer... :thumb:

The speaker in the left corner souds better that the other one,
probably because it is in a corner.

I have two more projects.
One pair of modified V2 and one pair of modified V2 enclosure for my V1 drivers.
More to come.

As long as the intended purpose was for Karaoke playback, you are doing just fine  :thumb:

Best,
Anand.

Hi persisting 1 and all Audio Circle members.
Next time I bring them back with me to Canada,
maybe they will fly for free with all the accumulated free air miles.
By the way, they have travelled by sea cargo, I hope they were not sea sick.

I will only bring back with the the V1 not the others.
Thanks for the nice comments...

Hi all Audio Circle members.
This is my second of three projects.
The modified V2 (Red Ferrari) is for my wife for her Karaoke singing
and for movie watching.

The third project will take a little longer,
it's the V1 and those will be keepers.
